Hall was born in Washington DC and grew up in Virginia. From a young age she began absorbing and internalizing the beauty that can be found in life and the natural world around her. Memories of childhood routine that involved quilting bees and gardening became important components of her artistic focus.
Over time Hall would enroll in art classes at Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Museum Studio School and the Richmond Visual Arts Center. She has also taken workshops with Camille Przewodek and Gay Faulkenberry.
Hall’s ideas for paintings come from her desire to express the colors, patterns, textures and richness that surrounds all of us. They are distinct for their vibrancy and fresh uncomplicated style juxtaposed with a smattering of mystery, charm and perhaps a smidge of winsomeness. Her work is about happiness, vitality and even the little things. With Hall’s paintings we sense that a true transformation takes place and she has achieved her goal when we see the world just a bit differently. There is a clarity of vision not unlike that of a crisp autumn day when we realize we are viewing the ordinary with new eyes. It is at that moment that we too find ourselves smiling.
